The É«ÇéӰƬ Advantage
From ELC to Year 12, É«ÇéӰƬ sets the benchmark for outstanding coeducation with our unique Together-Apart-Together learning model, specialist age and stage campus structure and dynamic staff. We empower student growth and achievement through positive relationships, diverse opportunities, and enriching experiences to ensure every student can develop their own definition of Happy, Healthy, and High Achieving.

Together-Apart-Together Model
Classes are coeducational from ELC – Year 4 and from Years 10 – 12, with students learning in single-gender classes through Years 5 – 9. Our middle year’s program is tailored to the unique needs of boys and girls during this critical time in their physical, social, and emotional development, providing them with a greater sense of security and a supportive environment to speak openly with staff and their peers about common and relevant issues.
Beyond the Classroom
Our personal identity, understanding, skills, and relationships are shaped by our experiences. As we learn and grow, we change. At É«ÇéӰƬ, we embrace the holistic development of our students and provide an extensive program of activities and experiences beyond our core curriculum. Designed to promote a healthy balance between academic studies, personal interests, and experiential learning, they support the development of self-confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and more.
Wellbeing
Prioritised above all else, our Wellbeing program is integrated within the fabric of our School culture to ensure it is authentic and effective. All staff play a role in our Wellbeing program and support our professional team of Counsellors, Psychologists, Chaplains and Nurses… together with our furry team of therapy dogs! Our Mentor program, together with Campus Heads provide the structured support students experience each day and is tailored to the different needs of every year level.
Student Results
We take great pride in celebrating the successes of our students both in and beyond the classroom. Our teaching practices delivered by passionate, dedicated staff, together with our Wellbeing priority to support every student to achieve their own personal success, continue to have a profound impact on our students. Mentone students consistently achieve outstanding VCE and VCAL results and regularly win external awards and scholarships for excellence across academic, sporting, creative and personal pursuits.
Curriculum
Our core curriculum is designed as a developmental sequence from ELC – Year 10, preparing students for their chosen study pathway and the rigours of VCE in Years 11 & 12. Lessons are underpinned by the gradual release of responsibility, with periods of explicit instruction accompanied by opportunities for shared and independent practice. This is complemented by the use of inquiry, experiential and project-based learning, as well as the application of design thinking.
Academic Enrichment
Our Enrichment Team help to ensure highly able students are challenged beyond the classroom and are inspired to take their learning further. Highly able students in ELC and Foundation, who meet the program criteria, are provided with an Individual Enrichment Plan designed to stimulate the child’s curiosity and wonder, connecting them with real-world problems through a range of hands-on activities and experimentation. Gifted students in Years 1 to 9 are presented with a range of academic challenges through our Dare2Dream! Program that focuses on developing real-life skills in relevant contexts.
Learning Journeys
Our students have countless opportunities to explore their country, discover and challenge their own strengths and capabilities, and embark on adventures that will create lifelong friends and memories. The Learning Journeys program takes an age and stage approach, building on previous camps and experiences to encourage and support students to continue to build resilience and confidence, and advance their social and emotional growth.
House Spirit
Every student is allocated into one of ten Houses when they join the School. Under the guidance of designated House Coordinators, together with Mentors, House Captains and the House Leadership teams, students come together from each year level to enable cross-age mentoring and leadership opportunities. There are also events and activities that bring out some healthy House spirit with fun competitions in sport, music, drama, chess, debating and more.
Sport
Sport and physical activity are embedded in the É«ÇéӰƬ culture, so students develop an appreciation of their health and bodies in the early years while also reinforcing the values of teamwork, cooperation, accountability, being active and having fun. Students also develop fundamental movement and motor skills that are transferable across sports and other life activities. Saturday sport is a major feature from Year 7 as students participate in a wide range of Summer and Winter sports.
Performing Arts
É«ÇéӰƬ has an enviable reputation in the performing arts, with the School’s stunning Creativity Centre being a hub for creative passion and offering extraordinary resources to enable the best in music performance, dance, drama and theatre. The performing arts brings inspiration, energy and dedication to our education program and every student is encouraged to get involved through a range of bands and music instruction, Campus-based productions and special performances.
Pathways and Careers
Our dedicated Pathways and Careers Team offer a holistic program of support for students in Years 9 – 12 to help students as they explore vocational skills and preferences, through to subject selection and eventually transition from school to further education and the workforce. This includes extensive careers resources and skills-based training from resume writing to interview skills, tertiary applications and more.
Community Engagement
One of the enduring comments we receive is about our incredible welcoming community of parents, alumni (Mentonians) and partners who provide an extended network of support for our students and our School as a whole. It is one of the reasons we have become the school of choice across bayside and the reason our Mentonians, past staff and community partners remain connected to us.
Campus Life
Our six campuses on one site support physical, social, and emotional growth at each age and stage.
Each Campus provides a safe, welcoming cohort experience where students feel valued, heard, and celebrated for their differences.
Our educational environment is designed to inspire curiosity, enable excellence, and create an important sense of belonging to support physical and mental wellbeing so students can achieve their personal best.
